Moldova: The Academy of Sciences celebrated the International Day of Science for Peace and Development#News247WorldPress

On the International Day of Science for Peace and Development, celebrated on November 10, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova organized a large-scale event attended by the leadership of ASM, full and corresponding members of the academy, coordinators of science sections and research institutes, teaching staff, scientific researchers, as well as young people eager to build a career in research.

The events began in the Golden Hall of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), where participants gathered for the 4th edition of the Research and Innovation Festival “Science for Peace and Development: Creativity, Experience, Perspectives.” It included interactive exhibitions with innovative projects in fields such as biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy, alongside debates on the role of science in addressing global challenges.

The event continued in the Azurie Hall of the ASM with a ceremonial session dedicated to the International Day of Science for Peace and Development and the ASM Laureates Awards Gala, during which the remarkable achievements of distinguished researchers from various scientific fields were celebrated and recognized.

In the opening speech of the ceremonial session, the President of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, acad. Ion TIGHINEANU, stated that in conditions of regional instability, the Republic of Moldova needs to reconnect with EU countries and reiterated that “science is essential for achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and for ensuring the future of the Republic of Moldova, aligning optimally with the National Plan ‘Building a European Moldova,’ including the activity plan of the newly appointed Government,” noting that “marking the International Day of Science for Peace and Development provides an opportunity to mobilize everyone”.
