MONS, Belgium – Supreme Allied Command Europe (SACEUR) General Philip Breedlove met military and civilian officials in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden and indicated that their countries remain steadfast and valued partners to NATO during a visit to the Scandinavian countries on 4 – 6 August 2015.
“Finland and Sweden have vital roles in helping NATO build peace and stability,” said General Breedlove. “Our enduring partnerships will help us ensure a strong collective defence as we adapt to current and future threats,” he said.

General Breedlove also thanked both countries for their commitment to NATO’s largest exercise in decades. Finland and Sweden will be participating in Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2015 this autumn.
“The participation of partner nations in Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE is deeply appreciated and I am pleased that both Finland and Sweden will be taking part in our largest collective training event in over a decade,” said General Breedlove.
Over 36,000 troops from 30 Allied and Partner Nations are expected to participate in Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2015. The exercise will take place in Italy, Spain, and Portugal from 3 October to 6 November 2015.
