PRISTINA, Kosovo – During a two day visit to NATO Headquarters Pristina, Kosovo on Thursday, 3 September 2015 and Friday, 4 September 2015, General Philip M. Breedlove, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, met with troops highlighting NATO’s continued commitment to the stability of Kosovo’s future.

“Yesterday and earlier today, I met with Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta and several key leaders to discuss the status of NATO’s mission and the way ahead in Kosovo and thank our troops for all the hard work our men and women in KFOR are doing,” said Breedlove “It’s very encouraging to see how KFORs contribution to the stability of the security situation here has provided the time and space needed for so much diplomatic progress. Certainly there is still plenty left to be done but the progress has been notable.”

Kosovo Security Forces are a professional force and a source of regional stability. We will continue to help build a capable Kosovo Security Force and the civilian structures associated with it ultimately providing a safe and secure environment throughout Kosovo.

“As Kosovo steps forward and embraces its own future, NATO will remain committed to doing its part to contribute to stability here,” added Breedlove. “We will remain a robust and credible force capable of carrying out our mission for as long as necessary.”

The mission of KFOR as authorised by the North Atlantic Council (NAC) is to contribute to a safe and secure environment in Kosovo and to support the development of security institutions capable of operating without NATO assistance.
