Chief of general staff of PLA meets with Jordanian guest

BEIJING, Sep.10 (ChinaMil) — Fang Fenghui, member of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), met with Mashal Mohammad AL Zaben, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces who came to visit China with Jordanian King Abdullah II, on the morning of September 9, 2015.

Fang Fenghui said a few days ago, China successfully held the commemorative activities marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War.

In a speech delivered by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the commemorative activities, he proposed the peace initiative of establishing the consciousness of human destiny community, stated the great truth that “Justice will prevail! Peace will prevail! The people will prevail! “, and declared that the number of China’s troops be cut by 300,000, which fully expressed China’s steadfast determination to adhere to the path of peaceful development, Fang added.

Fang also expressed that as the important participants of the World Anti-Fascist War and the strong defenders of world peace, China and Jordan have supported each other in issues involving mutual core interests over the years, and have maintained close communications on important international and regional issues.

Fang stressed that China is willing to work with Jordan to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of states, deepen pragmatic cooperation in specialized fields such as anti-terrorism and personnel training, upgrade the bilateral military relations to a new level, and jointly safeguard international fairness and justice and world peace.

Zaben said that Jordan highly appreciates China’s impartial stance and important role in major international affairs, treasures the friendship between Jordan and China, and thanks China for its support to Jordan’s army building.

Jordan is willing to work with China to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in such fields as joint training and anti-terrorism, and promote further development of the bilateral relations, Zaben added.
