CMC vice chairman meets with Namibian defense minister

BEIJING, Sept. 23 (ChinaMil) –Vice Chairman Xu Qiliang of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC) met on Tuesday afternoon with Penda Ya Ndakolo, the visiting Namibian defense minister in Beijing.

As an influential country in Africa, Namibia plays an important role in the development of friendly relations between China and African nations, Xu Qiliang said. China and Namibia have witnessed in recent years increasingly enhanced political mutual trust and close military-to-military exchange and cooperation, Xu continued.

The CMC Vice Chairman stressed that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) attaches great importance to the friendly relations with the Namibian Defense Force, and is willing to work with the Namibian side to further strengthen multi-field exchange and cooperation between the two militaries in all levels.

Ndakolo said that for Namibia, China is a friend in need. He felt the deep affection from the Chinese people for the Namibian people in his China visit.

Namibia hopes to keep boosting pragmatic cooperation with China and jointly push forward the development of relations between the two countries and two militaries, Ndakolo added.

Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the PLA, and Namibian Ambassador to China Ringo Abed attended the meeting.
