NAPLES, Italy – The commanders of NATO’s two Joint Force Commands met with the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR), September 28, 2015.
U.S. Navy Admiral Mark Ferguson, Commander of JFC Naples, hosted British Army General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, DSACEUR, and German Army General Lothar Domroese, Commander of JFC Brunssum, to discuss strategic implications concerning NATO’s Readiness Action Plan, the NATO Response Force (NRF), and general security of the alliance.
The meeting of the three senior leaders took place ahead of Exercise Trident Juncture 2015, which will be the certification exercise for JFC Brunssum to lead the NRF in 2016 as the command and control headquarters. JFC Naples currently serves as the command and control for the 2015 NRF, and is supporting the exercise through guidance and additional manpower.
Exercise Trident Juncture 2015 will take place in October and November in three locations: Spain, Italy and Portugal. It is a flagship activity for NATO’s Connected Forces Initiative and is the largest NATO exercise to take place since 2002.
