His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Birthday and Thailand’s National Day

On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend our warmest congratulations to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on his 88th birthday and to the people of Thailand on your National Day this December 5.

We greatly value our enduring friendship with the people of Thailand, which has spanned more than 180 years. The King is a singular figure who has won the hearts of many Americans. As the Thai people celebrate his birthday, I would like to express our deep appreciation for His Majesty’s incalculable contributions to the close bonds and warm relations between our two countries. We look forward to continuing our historic relationship with Thailand to advance security and prosperity in both our countries, the region, and beyond.
