As one of the best appellate judges in the country, Chief Judge Merrick Garland is the most qualified person to immediately serve on the Supreme Court. Here are a few things you should know about Chief Judge Garland’s background and experience:

1. He has more federal judicial experience than any Supreme Court nominee in history.
2. He led the investigation and prosecution that brought Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh to justice.
3. He was confirmed to the D.C. Circuit Court by the U.S. Senate in a strong, bipartisan vote of 76-23.
4. He has tutored elementary school children in reading and math for almost 20 years.
