Tbilisi, Georgia – Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) General Sir Adrian Bradshaw visited Georgian troops during Exercise Noble Partner 2016 on May 24, while on an official visit to the country. General Bradshaw also met with Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze, Chief of General Staff of Georgia’s Armed Forces and discussed a host of topics including Georgian participation in NATO operations and the NATO Response Force.
“NATO and Georgia have been partners for over 20 years. This partnership is mutually beneficial,” said General Bradshaw.
The partnership between NATO and Georgia started in 1992, shortly after Georgia gained independence from the former Soviet Union. Georgia currently has over 850 troops serving on the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, many of whom conduct force protection and quick response force duties in support of Alliance efforts in the country.

“Exercise Noble Partner 2016 shows the enduring partnership between NATO and Georgia and demonstrates the level of interoperability reached by the Georgian Armed Forces,” added DSACEUR.
Participating in the Georgia Defence Security Conference where he met with Mrs Tinatin Khidasheli, Minister of Defence of Georgia, General Bradshaw reminded that “NATO strongly supports Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.”
