A federal grand jury has charged President Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his business and campaign associate Rick Gates, with 12 counts – including conspiracy, money laundering, failing to register as foreign agents, and making false statements.
Manafort and Gates were told to surrender to authorities by lawyers working with special counsel Robert Mueller. Mueller has been investigating Manafort for his financial ties to a pro-Russia party in Ukraine, and his Virginia home was the subject of an FBI search this summer. The case was unsealed Monday after they surrendered.
