Emiliano Sala plane search LIVE: Rescue mission to recover body latest updates

A rescue team have continued to recover the body found on board the wreckage of the aircraft carrying the Cardiff striker today

The rescue operation to recover the body found in the wreckage of the plane which was carrying Emiliano Sala has continued on Wednesday.

Sala and pilot David Ibbotson were the only two people on board the Piper Malibu aircraft which was downed on a flight between Nantes and Cardiff on January 21.

On Sunday morning the submerged remains of the plane was discovered on the seabed of the English Channel by a private underwater search team.

Footage filmed by drones discovered a body still on board the wreck, while the rescue team are attempting to bring to the surface.

If this is successful, the Air Accidents Investigation branch will consider recovering the aircraft.

The initial search was stopped by Guernsey Police after four days, insisting the chances of survival were “very slim”.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock, who had recently signed Sala before his disappearance, had been rumoured to to be prepared to quit over the incident calling it the “worst time of my career”.

But the Bluebirds boss has now rejected the claims and will continue with his job.
