
ROCKFORD, IL (KFVS) – A very large police presence can be seen outside of a hotel in Rockford, Illinois on Thursday morning, March 7.
According to the Rockford Police Department, officers are investigating an active shooter situation at an Extended Stay America.
Police say at 9:15 a.m. Rockford officers responded to the hotel, in cooperation with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, attempting to serve an arrest warrant at one of the rooms when the suspect opened fired on law enforcement.
One U.S. Marshal was shot. His status is unknown. He is a deputy assigned to the U.S. Marshals Task Force.
During the course of the investigation, Rockford Police say the suspect took off in a vehicle from the hotel and he is at-large.
Police identified the suspect as Floyd E. Brown. He is described as a 45 year-old black male who is a resident of Springfield, Ill. and was staying at the hotel.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a light blue or silver Mercury Grand Marquis with a license plate BF13112 or it could be a temporary plate 4850256.
