Prime Minister’s Office has drafted a plan worth NIS 400 million, submitted for approval by the Treasury Budget Department, to encourage major car manufacturers and components in the world to continue investing in Israel
#Israel is preparing to maintain its top position in the smart transport industry even during the Corona days, even though this is a time when there is less money available for investment in the field.
The Prime Minister’s Office has drafted a plan worth NIS 400 million for investments in the field. The “Acceleration Plan”, submitted for approval by the Budget Department of the Treasury, is intended to encourage the world’s largest car manufacturers and components to continue investing in the country.

General Motors announced the closure of its cooperative car service and Ford has canceled an SUV Electric from the Lincoln luxury division that was due to go on the market in two years, all companies are reassessing their resources on smart, autonomous and cybersecurity.
The government plan to reinvigorate the smart car sector, which will be managed by a smart transport manager at the Prime Minister’s Office, will be implemented over the next five years, with a budget of NIS 385 million. The program itself is based on a number of steps: promoting the establishment of a national database for smart transport, establishing a national energy center to encourage research in the field, accelerating the establishment of an Israeli laboratory that will examine autonomous vehicle technologies, which are currently being performed abroad, and completing Israeli road mapping for autonomous vehicles.
The bulk of the budget – NIS 99 million – is earmarked for the current year, with NIS 25 million of which is earmarked for supporting pilots of companies that deal with smart vehicles.
Next year, NIS 79 million is dedicated to the program – with a large portion of that amount, NIS 25 million is dedicated to supporting pilots taking place in the State of Israel. In the coming years, by 2024, NIS 69 million is dedicated each year to promoting the smart car.
