Brian Douglas: Internațional Children’s Day 1st June 2020

The origin of Internațional children’s day dates back to 1925 at a high level meeting of several countries în Geneva and has been a national children’s holiday ever since. The actual date of 1st June is used by many former Eastern block countries aș the internațional day of child protection from when this date was established în 1950.

I wish each and every child awonderful childrens day holiday filled with joy and happiness no matter where they live în our World and no matter what color, creed or race they come from aș all are children and the future of our countries în years ahead. I am a strong believer that children should be left to be just that children aș long aș can be and to learn all that is placed before them în school to allow them to develop later în life into well groomed and decent, educated future citizens.

Children should be loved and protected at all times aș are innocent and vulnerable în many instances to events that can and does sadly lead to tragedy for far too many a child.

I again this year attract attention to the fact that many a child will have no happiness on children’s day or any other day that matter throughout the year. Here I speak of children who are trafficked by criminals, children used for sexual exploitation, children who are abused and beaten and forced to labor în some countries where human rights are at a low standard. We need and I appeal for a surge în human rights for all of these children to be activated and for authorities to act swiftly to end the plight of these children who no one talks about and who go unseen. Children abused can never be accepted and must never be în a modern society we live în în 2020.

If children are to flourish they must recieve a good and proper education with set standards the same for all the children of any Country and there must be that same standard and opportunity for the poor, marginalized child aș well aș the child în a more affluent family without discrimination. There are far too many children for instance living în former Eastern block countries, many now EU country members, but who live în poverty, malnousrished and without hope. This must change and I am delighted to see that Spain has put în place a project to assist poor families on low incomes that will help their children to a better standard of living both at home and at school also and many countries need also to follow this up and put their children first so that together we can all have happy, protected, educated and most of all children who realise they are special not just on internațional children’s day, but every day!
