A “Freedom Convoy” of truckers and other protesters has continued to gather in Ottawa and around Canada to express their discontent over vaccine mandates and the federal government. On Friday, crowdfunding platform GoFundMe announced “no further funds will be directly distributed to the Freedom Convoy organizers” after receiving police reports of violence and other unlawful activity from the demonstration. The number of protesters in Canada’s capital has diminished significantly since the weekend, The Washington Post reports. The protest, which originally started as a protest against a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for cross-border drivers, has since developed into a demonstration against the Trudeau government and its policies, according to Reuters.
