Ukrainian officials are checking into reports that Russia may have used chemical weapons in the port city of Mariupol, Ukraine’s Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar said on Tuesday. This comes after a report by the Ukrainian military predicted that the Russian army is on the verge of taking the city, giving Russian forces a land corridor between Russian-controlled Crimea and the disputed territories in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region where Russian President Vladimir Putin is focusing his attack.
