The list of literary awards from Romania 2021
Acad. Eugen Simion
“Eugen Simion – a great intellectual; an irreparable loss for academia Romanian” – acad. Ioan-Aurel Pop, president of the Romanian Academy
“He was the president of the Academy in two mandates and at that time he reformed, somewhat, the institution, managing to restore the dignity of the Romanian Academy, obtaining for its members those rights that were due to them. He acted in society as a man with great responsibility for the institution he led.
He was also a university professor at the University of Bucharest. He did not enjoy dignities during the communist regime. Only later, after the fall of communism, was he rewarded as he deserved. And that is why I think with great respect, with reverence, of the memory of Eugen Simion. I can only say that I regret it very much and offer my condolences to the family and to everyone who knew him.”
