#News247WorldPress recommends #VictoryTheatre in #Pitesti

The theater hall has a rich history. It was founded in 1912 in the headquarters of the People’s Bank, under the name of Aquila Hall, and was owned by Constantin Mircea.

In 1930, at the Aquila Cinema, the film “There was a mill on siret”, made by the German director Martin Berger after the novel by Mihail Sadoveanu, but from which “only the title and names of a few characters” were preserved.

At the beginning of the 30’s, the cinema, the largest and most modern in the city, also becomes profitable, so that, in April 1931, we find out from the historian Petre Popa, the projection of films with “sound apparatus, the only one in the country, the production of the House «Gaumont» in Paris, type 1931, presenting to the public a show equal to the one in Bucharest.”

On March 6, 1948, at the “Aquila” Hall, the Workers’ Theatre (later, the State Theatre) opens with a permanent season. That’s how it is that theatrical performances were also played here, but there were also films being broadcast.

In 1959, the cinema was renamed, from “Aquila” (so known for 47 years), to “Modern”.

After 54 years, on March 1, 2013, Modern changed its name again to “Sebastian Papaiani”. It was wanted to rename the cinema, which was doing it more and more difficult after 1990, as well as paying homage to the greatest actor that Pitesti gave to the country.

After 107 years since the establishment of the Aquila Hall, the Papaiani cinema was closed and now the Victory Theatre is located here.

Performances and cultural events are held at the VICTORIEI theater in Pitesti for all categories of the public.
