
On September 16-19, 2024, the President of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Acad. Ion Tighineanu, paid a visit to Lithuania at the invitation of Acad. Juras Banys, President of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, as well as at the invitation of the organizers of the international forum “2nd Central and Eastern European Conference on Physical Chemistry and Materials Science” (CEEC-PCMS2) which held its work at the Kaunas University of Technology.
During the CEEC-PCMS2 forum, Acad. Ion Tighineanu held a plenary report on research in the field of hybrid three-dimensional architectures, inspired by nature, and became familiar with the process of carrying out scientific projects at the University of Technologies in Kaunas. The outstanding contribution of Acad. Ion Tighineanu to the development of physical chemistry and materials science was appreciated by the organizers of the CEEC-PCMS2 scientific forum with the “Award for Emeritus Scientist in Physical Chemistry @ Materials Science”.
In Vilnius, Acad. Ion Tighineanu had meetings with Acad. Juras Banys, President of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, and Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, Rector of the University of Vilnius. On September 19, the President of the Academy of Sciences visited the Library of the Academy where an impressive number of rare books are kept, as well as several laboratories and research centers within the University. The presidents of the two Academies discussed opportunities for organizing joint scientific events, including summer schools for pupils and students.
