The questions of recent years have vague and contradictory answers because
Moldova’s population is so divided towards Europe, Russia, neighbors that the current
project of Moldovan politics to be a member of the EU keeps the debate alive.
If we are to list the reasons why Russia is chosen to the detriment of Europe, we can extract the
labor market, job stability, administration, order and maybe a liberalized labor market for Moldovans
in Russia, to which are added exports.
Moldova is strongly shaken and needs partnerships and alliances to survive.
A chance for integration into Europe is represented by the Ukraine-Moldova tandem, through which Moldova’s
chances of being a member of the EU at least in the near future are very low due to the lack of attractiveness
compared to Ukraine’s resources and the war that tilts the balance towards Ukraine.
The efforts of Romania and its supporters for Moldova to be a member of the EU are tiny compared to the efforts
made to Ukraine and hence there can be confusion and questions:
Who should Moldova go with? Who can provide financial and military protection? Who can guarantee anything to
Moldova and what can Moldova offer in exchange for these partnerships and guarantees?
The country is strongly divided and the faith of the population plays a decisive role .
As in the case of Romania, where a significant percentage of the population is away and sends money back to
the country, but most of them speak ill of their country because of politics, the answers to the questions do not
have a near future because not all the interests of the population are harmonized.
Independence and neutrality have worked for a while because in times of war and crisis there is a need for alliances
and partnerships, which is not easy to get out of your pocket. A harmonization of the interests of the population to
understand the context and needs, which path is taken and with whom it would be welcome.
