In an initiative aimed at igniting the spark of passion for science among the new generation, several students from the Soroca district stepped into the fascinating world of scientific research at the end of March, through an organized visit to the laboratories of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at Moldova State University.

On March 29, approximately 20 students from the Regional Center for Capable Students in the Municipality of Soroca had the opportunity to explore scientific activities in university laboratories. The event is part of a broad campaign to promote science among young people, initiated by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and the Academy of Young People in Moldova, with the support of UNESCO.

Thus, the students visited research laboratories as well as teaching laboratories where Mr. Roman Rusnac, a young researcher, doctor of chemical sciences, and university lecturer, presented a look into modern strategies regarding the synthesis of a new pharmaceutical preparation. Similarly, during the visit to the “Instrumental Methods of Analysis” laboratory, Dr. Petru Bulmaga, a doctor in chemistry and university lecturer, introduced the students to cutting-edge techniques in spectral analysis as well as analytical techniques used in reference laboratories for the quality of pharmaceutical and food products. Additionally, the students became acquainted with the application of FT-IR spectroscopy in the synthesis and research of biopharmaceutical products designed within the research laboratories of USM.
