
In accordance with the Decision of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova of April 14, 2025, Prof. Peter Gluckman, President of the International Science Council (ISC), was awarded the “Dimitrie Cantemir” Medal of the Academy of Sciences for his outstanding contributions to international scientific cooperation and for collaboration with the academic community of the Republic of Moldova.
The International Scientific Council thanked the Academy of Sciences of Moldova for the high appreciation of the work of Prof. Peter Gluckman in promoting science as a global public good. The ISC press release mentions that the conferral of the academic distinction also recognizes the contribution of Prof. Peter Gluckman to the success of the International Conference “European Peace Platform” on May 24, 2022, hosted by the ASM, as well as his commitment to the scientific community in the Republic of Moldova, also manifested through the interview with the ASM Press Service on trust in science in a world of disinformation.
Prof. Peter Gluckman is a renowned researcher in the field of endocrinology, pediatrics, etc. Prior to being elected President of the International Science Council (2018), Prof. Gluckman was Senior Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, playing a key role in promoting evidence-based science and policy. He has also been involved in various global initiatives addressing health and environmental challenges, being a founding member of the International Network for Government Scientific Advice.
