The Academy of Scientists Awards for 2023 in Romania

The Academy of Scientists of Romania is awarding today in Bucharest well-known names from medicine and other fields of science.

Professor Vasile Sarbu announces the names and works awarded in the field of respiratory rehabilitation, a pioneering field in Romania.

Brief history.

The Academy of Scientists of Romania is the successor and the sole heir of the Academy of Sciences of Romania (1935 – 1948) and of the Association of Scientists of Romania established by HCM no. 1012/May 30, 1956, which changed its title to the Academy of Scientists of Romania in 1996. In 2007, Law no. 31-15 January 2007 regarding the reorganization and functioning of AOSR was adopted. Among the honorary members of ASR were the following Nobel Prize laureates (according to Bulletin no. 11.1943 of ASR): Louis de Broglie, Jean Perrin (French physicists), Max Born, Werner-Karl Heisenberg (German physicists), Paul Sabatier (French chemist), Hans Fischer, Friedrich Bergius (German chemists), Paul Karrer (Swiss chemist), and George Emil Palade (Romanian physician), a member of AOSR. According to the institutional evaluation by Scimago/ELSEVIER, based on the international scientific visibility of its members, AOSR ranks 22nd in Romania and 775th in the world in the ranking of institutions.
