Academy of Sciences of Moldova: The Literary Festival ‘Mihai Eminescu’ in Dumbrăveni – the eminescian capital of Romania

AcasăFrom June 13 to 15, 2025, the 18th edition of the International Festival “Mihai Eminescu” took place in the commune of Dumbrăveni, Suceava County, Romania, organized under the auspices of the Romanian Academy and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova. The event, which was held in the premises of the “Acad. Eugen Simion” Cultural Center, brought together prominent figures of Romanian culture: academicians, university professors, representatives of local and central administrations, students, and admirers of Eminescu’s work. Under the theme “The Year of Mihai Eminescu”, this year’s edition had a special significance – marking 175 years since the birth of the national poet. The International Mihai Eminescu Festival in Dumbrăveni represents a genuine bridge between generations, regions, and consciousnesses. Through the active involvement of local authorities, cultural elites, and the community, the commune of Dumbrăveni becomes, year after year, an example of the continuity of the Romanian spirit.

In his speech, the president of the ASM, academician Ion Tighineanu, mentioned the initiative of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and the Romanian Academy to declare the year 2025 as the “Year of Eminescu.” “Mihai Eminescu unites us through his creation. He is, undeniably, the symbol of our spiritual unity, being the strongest bond between the two banks of the Prut River,” declared academician Ion Tighineanu.
