The Academy of Sciences of Moldova starts the 3rd Edition of the Summer School “The Road to Scientific Discoveries”.

On June 23, the third edition of the Summer School “The Path to Scientific Discoveries” will be launched, organized for students and pupils by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova in partnership with the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Romanian Academy, the Academy of Legal Sciences of Romania, and the Academy of Young People from the Republic of Moldova, with financial support from UNESCO. The event will last until June 27, providing participants with the opportunity to learn from international experts and engage in practical activities and interactive sessions.

On Monday, the first day of the event, the opening ceremony will take place, where the president of the Academy of Sciences, acad. Ion TIGHINEANU, will give a speech, followed by a series of conferences held by renowned personalities, such as Nobel Prize Laureate in Medicine Prof. James ROTHMAN, who will explain the importance of fundamental research for sustainable development, and Prof. Klaus MAINZER, president of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg, who will lecture on artificial intelligence and its impact on society. Following that, acad. Aurelian GULEA will present treatment perspectives for cancer, with participants having the opportunity to attend discussions on innovations in medicine and technology.

On Tuesday, the program is filled with specialized presentations, starting with the role of scientists in understanding epidemics, presented by Acad. Viorel PRISACARI, and continuing with topics such as oro-maxillo-facial surgery and societal issues and modeling. Additionally, the day includes sessions on heart health and cardiovascular risk factors, as well as on rejuvenation and aging, thus completing the range of relevant topics for biomedical and social research.

Wednesday, the third day of the Summer School, will be dedicated to innovation in biotechnology and advanced materials. After presentations on artificial tissues and organs, as well as biotechnology, there will be a discussion about the legal culture in society, access to justice, and the evolution of legal systems in a global context, as well as how contemporary society can be influenced by these developments. The day also includes a session on youth as promoters of the intelligence of the future, followed by a visit to the laboratories of USMF ‘Nicolae Testemițanu’ to see the practical application of research in the field of tissue engineering.

Thursday, June 26, 2025, will begin with a lecture given by acad. Marius ANDRUH, vice president of the Romanian Academy, who will present to the audience the beauty of chemistry. Following that, participants will learn more about new developments in the field of materials physics and technological achievements, such as the development of satellites. In the second part of the day, students will have the opportunity to visit the laboratories of the Technical University of Moldova to discover the latest achievements in the field.

Friday, the last day of the summer school, will be dedicated to economic, artistic, and scientific topics, with speeches on career development in economics, the process of creating a work for children, and how nanotechnology is changing the world. The event will conclude with a discussion session on sustainable agriculture, where Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Prof. Ratan LAL from the USA and corresponding member Boris BOINCEAN will lecture on the importance of soil in promoting sustainable agriculture.

During this entire period, the participants of the Summer School “The Path to Scientific Discoveries” 2025 will have the opportunity to interact with world-renowned researchers and explore the research laboratories of universities and partner research institutes, through dedicated visits.
