25th Anniversary of the National Association of Private Detectives in Romania (ANDR)
“Discreet good deeds do not need applause” – this was the message that defined the anniversary gala “Saint Nicholas – Gala of Discreet Goodness.”
The National Association of Private Detectives in Romania (ANDR) celebrated 25 years of activity at the “Saint Nicholas – Gala of Discreet Goodness”, held at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel. The event marked a quarter-century of professionalism, rigor, and respect for truth in the field of private investigations in Romania.
Maria Bumbaru, founder and executive president of ANDR, stated:
“The National Association of Private Detectives in Romania is celebrating 25 years of service to truth, law, and people. Under the motto Semper Veritas, over this quarter-century, we have built an organization based on professional rigor, ethics, and public responsibility, demonstrating that true performance is affirmed through discretion and respect for the fundamental values of society.”
Prof. Univ. Dr. Gen. (R) Pavel Abraham, founder and honorary president of ANDR, added:
“Truth – Semper Veritas, which is also the motto of ANDR – has prevailed!”
The anniversary gala brought together, in a solemn setting, public figures, founding members of the association, representatives from the academic, legal, and medical fields, as well as professionals from the private investigations sector, reaffirming ANDR’s mission to serve truth and the public interest with discretion, responsibility, and respect for the law, under the organization’s guiding motto: Semper Veritas.
On the occasion of ANDR’s 25th anniversary, the Anniversary Diploma of Excellence, accompanied by the Golden Badge – 25 Years ANDR, was awarded to Emil Constantinescu, former President of Romania. This distinction honors his remarkable contribution to promoting moral values, truth, and public responsibility, principles that ANDR has supported and celebrated over the past quarter-century.
Emil Constantinescu stated:
“All my appreciation for ANDR. You cannot wish for more than a modern country, a modern community, through a more united society, a sustainable development through an ecological initiative that includes not only nature but also people’s consciousness.
‘Semper Veritas’: above all, truth is the essence of a society built through sacrifice. Freedom has proven insufficient if it is not based on the supreme value of truth, just as justice cannot be achieved without truth. There was a need for a private association to bring together experienced people for whom truth represents a moral ideal. The main problem of our country is the moral crisis.”
One of the central moments of the anniversary evening was the awarding of the Order of Discreet Goodness – Golden Badge 25 Years ANDR and the Diploma of Excellence to Viorica Dăncilă, former Prime Minister of Romania, in celebration of ANDR’s 25th anniversary.
Viorica Dăncilă said:
“You are professionals, people with principles, strict rules, solid deontology, and, above all, great patience. And for that, allow me to congratulate you! You are an organization that, for 25 years, has brought order and clarity to a profession often misunderstood. You are a pillar of responsibility in a society still learning the difference between legitimate interest and impermissible indiscretion.”
During the same anniversary context, Viorica Dăncilă also mentioned the personalities who have previously received the Order of Discreet Goodness, including former Presidents Ion Iliescu and Emil Constantinescu, former Minister and Diplomat Teodor Meleșcanu, as well as journalists Ion Cristoiu and Sorin Roșca Stănescu, emphasizing that this continuity of recognition reflects ANDR’s history and prestige over 25 years.
The distinctions were awarded for dedication to the country, for promoting dialogue, balance, and human values in public life – principles that have underpinned ANDR’s activity over the past 25 years.
A key moment of the anniversary gala was dedicated to presenting ANDR’s journey from its founding in 2000 to the present. By establishing professional and ethical standards, clarifying the legal limits of the profession, and affiliating internationally with the International Federation of Associations of Detectives (IKD), ANDR has established itself as a benchmark of seriousness and responsibility in a field often subject to prejudice.
Through the messages conveyed, the distinctions awarded, and the presentation of its 25-year journey, the ANDR gala was more than a festive event: it was a reaffirmation of the values that give consistency to a mature democratic society – truth, discretion, responsibility, and respect for the law.
