Dear Academician Marius ANDRUH,

Your election to this high office, for a four-year term, marks the beginning of an important stage in the evolution of the Romanian Academy – an institution which, throughout its 160 years of existence, has represented a fundamental benchmark of Romanian science, culture, and identity.

Over time, the collaborative relationships between the Romanian Academy and the academic sphere in the Republic of Moldova have experienced various phases, with Bessarabian scholars being among the personalities who contributed from the very beginning to the building and affirmation of this prestigious institution.

Today, on the 160th anniversary of the founding of the Romanian Academy and the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the collaboration between the two sister academies is experiencing unprecedented development. This is reflected in the Joint Action Plan, the celebration of identity holidays, initiatives dedicated to Mihai Eminescu, joint conferences, and summer schools – all expressing a coherent and irreversible process.
