Science manages to create vibration and elitism, to bring together, almost like a law, the most lasting and peaceful bonds, as durable as its discoveries and purpose.
Moldova has become a hub for the presence of Nobel laureates, the international scientific council, and national academies from around the world through visits and the creation of new academic structures modeled after the Romanian Academic Council, as well as other historical partnerships being renewed.
The event was opened by the president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, acad. Ion Tighineanu, who reviewed the main achievements of the institution over its six and a half decades of activity, highlighting the Academy’s role in strengthening scientific research and integrating the national academic community into the international knowledge circuit.

“One of the guests of honor at the event, Professor Randy Schekman, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, Professor at the University of California, Berkeley (USA), Honorary Member of the ASM, and a scientist with Bessarabian roots, delivered a speech dedicated to current advances in biomedical research and the role of science in improving the quality of life.”
A lecture of major interest was given by Prof. Klaus Mainzer, president of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, who addressed the challenges and prospects of artificial intelligence development in Europe and worldwide.
During the festive ceremony, Prof. Klaus Mainzer and Prof. Dr. Hab. Liviu-Bogdan Ciucă, president of the Academy of Legal Sciences of Romania, received the insignia of honorary members of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
Greetings were sent by the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun, who reiterated the importance of investing in education and research for the country’s development.

During the session of congratulations and speeches, the following spoke: Acad. Gheorghe Duca, former president of the ASM; Mihai Chirica, mayor of Iași; Ioan Pavăl, mayor of Dumbrăveni commune; m.c. Olga Cernețchi, vice-rector of the Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy; Prof. Otilia Dandara, rector of the State University of Moldova; choir member Aculina Arcu, president of the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Moldova, as well as other personalities from the academic, cultural, and administrative fields.

The newly elected members of the General Assembly of the ASM were handed their membership cards as full and corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
A special moment of the meeting was the speech by the President of the Romanian Academy, Acad. Marius Andruh, who highlighted the close collaborative relationships between the two academies and their contribution to developing the shared space for Romanian research and culture.
On this occasion, Acad. Marius Andruh presented the President of ASM, Acad. Ion Tighineanu, with the Romanian Academy’s Diploma of Appreciation as a token of recognition for his contribution to strengthening academic cooperation between the two institutions.

The anniversary event opens the following events under the banner of Summer School, the first meeting of the Romanian Academic Council, and lectures given by prominent figures in science where the young generation present will gather the information needed to understand science and practice it.
