Asia records financial losses and some crashes

Financial platforms are reporting disastrous news and figures as they appear.

Platform X notes that: ” China’s Shanghai Composite fell around 1.5%, erasing about ¥1.58 trillion ($237 billion), while South Korea’s KOSPI dropped 3.59% to 5,648.79, wiping out ₩130 trillion amid heavy selling by foreign and institutional investors. Leaders like Samsung Electronics and SK hynix dragged indexes lower on doubts over AI spending returns, fitting a pattern of steeper yearly declines including 40% drops for both the CSI 300 and KOSPI. Beijing rolled out new liquidity measures like a 100 billion yuan swap facility, but analysts noted limited past success; the selloff echoed U.S. tech weakness and raised questions about an AI bubble bursting across Asia.”
