Regional grouping of forces created within the international exercise Union Shield – 2015

Regional grouping of forces (RGF) has been created on the north-west of the Russian Federation within the international exercise Union Shield – 2015.

The Regional grouping includes generals and officers of the Western MD Staff and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.

According to the scenario, the RGF Staff started the development of the operation of blockage of illegal armed groups and deployment of Land Force units in cooperation with the Air Force of the Allied state.

At the present time, reconnaissance units of the Western MD and the Belarusian Armed Forces started joint reconnaissance-and-search actions for detecting of illegal armed groups, their combat positions, communication and supply lines.

Motorized rifle, tank and artillery units of the Regional grouping of forces started preparing for maneuvering defensive at the areas of possible offensive of imaginary enemy.

The Russian-Belarusian exercise Union Shield – 2015 is a scheduled activity held by the Armed Forces of the both countries. It involves over 8 000 servicemen, about 400 pieces of military equipment including more than 100 tanks and about 80 aircraft and helicopters of different purpose.
