Airborne units of the Armed Forces of Russian and Belarus started combat actions at the Union Shield – 2015 exercise

Ka-52 attack helicopters of the Aviation Formation of the Western MD ensured fire coverage of the airborne units of the regional grouping of forces (RGF) of the Allied state created within the joint Russian-Belarusian operational exercise Union Shield – 2015.

According to the scenario of the second stage, the airborne units landed from helicopters at the cutting edge of simulated enemy to provide the high-rate offensive of the tank units.

To provide safe landing operation of the airborne units, a wing of Ka-52 helicopters performed an air strike.

Airborne units of the RGF of the Allied state are performing combat training tasks within the joint Russian-Belarusian operational exercise Union Shield – 2015 at the range Strugi Krasniye in the Pskov Region. Among them, there are units of the Pskov Airborne Formation and the ones from the Special Task Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.

In total over 700 servicemen and about 150 pieces of military hardware are involved in the exercise.
