Northern Fleet ship grouping engaged four cruising missiles-targets in the course of the exercise in Barents Sea

Today the Northern Fleet ship grouping repelled a massive air attack of the simulated enemy in cooperation with fighter aviation by engaging four cruising missiles.

The event was held in the course of the Northern Fleet command-and-staff exercise, which had started on September 14.

At the first stage, a pair of Mig-31 fighters of the Northern Fleet combined aviation regiment intercepted and destroyed the missiles with two R-33 air-to-air missiles.

Crews of Admiral Ushakov destroyer and Vice Admiral Kulakov major ASW ships demonstrated their skills at the second stage. They successfully engaged the targets, which threatened the ships.

In the nearest future, the ships are to lay course to their permanent base ports.

More than 40 warships, submarines and supply vessels, and aircraft of the Northern Fleet combined aviation regiment.
