A new project diesel-electric submarine Rostov-on-Don to make part of the Black Sea Fleet by the end of the year

The second diesel-electric submarine of project 636.3 Rostov-on-Don will make part of the Black Sea Fleet by the end of the year. This was announced by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy for armament Vice Admiral Viktor Bursuk.

He reminded that the first submarine was the Novorossiysk, in July the flag was hoisted on the third – the Stary Oskol; by the end of 2015 the fourth one – the Krasnodar – will be delivered to the Russian Navy. Another two submarines of project 636.3 are being built at the Admiralty Wharfs plant.

Submarines of the project 636.3 are the long-range ones. They are equipped with modern armament, effective electronic and navigational systems.
