Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) — the UN’s nuclear watchdog — arrived at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant on Thursday to assess the site, the agency said. The IAEA hopes to “help secure the site and reduce the risk of a catastrophe from the fighting raging around it.” One of two functioning reactors at the plant was shut down on Thursday due to shelling, Ukraine’s nuclear operator Energoatom said in a statement.
