Southern MD army aviation put on an alert within unannounced combat readiness inspection

Today within the unannounced combat readiness inspection of the Central MD, troops and forces of other Military Districts, the Airborne Troops and Military Transport Aviation, over 10 helicopters from the army aviation airbase of the Southern MD located in the Krasnodar Krai will be redeployed at operational airfields in the Astrakhan and Stavropol Regions.

Beforehand, the units of the airbase had been put on the highest level of combat alert and practiced procedure of preparation of military hardware for redeployment.

During the performance of flight tasks, the pilots used the terrain for stealth movement and overcoming air defence of imaginary enemy.

The unannounced inspection started this Monday upon the order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces. The Central MD, troops and forces of other Military Districts, the Airborne Troops and Military Transport Aviation – 95 thousand servicemen and over 7 thousand combat vehicles and more than 170 aircraft – are involved.
